The Senior Section at M. D. Gunasena International School embraces a vibrant community of students in grades, nine, ten, eleven and twelve. The Cambridge Ordinary Level syllabus embarks in grade nine and Pupils fulfill their Cambridge Ordinary Level Examinations in grade ten, after the completion of the syllabus. The Cambridge Advanced Level curriculum, likewise, begins in grade eleven and students sit for their Cambridge Advanced Level Examination after the conclusion of the course in grade twelve.
The classes are extremely small in number in order to give students the maximum benefit possible, in facilitating a one-to-one tutorial experience with the teachers. A wide range of subjects are studied in each of these year levels and are taught through an up-to-date British curriculum aiming at the Cambridge Ordinary Level and Advanced Level Examinations. Teachers are profoundly emboldened to teach students through the enduring global principles of education. There is a compelling emphasis on encouraging students to complete their school work to the best of their ability, while maintaining high standards of moral behavior. Students are provided with fully equipped classrooms and laboratories of ample space and they are being taught by a panel of highly qualified and skilled graduate teachers, who have been carefully and scrupulously selected to help students gain the best education possible, in-house, without external, tuition classes, which the school can confidently boast about.
